A lot goes into creating an amazing restaurant experience but at the end of the day it’s going to be the food that people come back for. At the Dark Horse we know that different tables at the same time might be looking for different meals; some friends in for a pint might want a pizza and wings to share, a family might want hearty main courses and a couple on a date might be looking for something different to spice things up. At our restaurant we try to give a range of high-quality dining options so that you can find exactly what you’re looking for whenever you’re in.
International
Our standard menu has brought together a number of international influences to give our customers tasty, high quality and reasonably priced options whatever they’re in for. For some light bites we have delicious options such as chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks, along with our famous (in Athlone and beyond) chicken wings in a range of sauces. We know for those dropping in at lunch time they want something filling and tasty to keep them going so we have a number of sandwiches and wraps, including our fantastic Dark Horse Special Toastie (trust us, you’ll want to try it out).
For larger meals our chefs have created an excellent selection of mains for dining out in Athlone. These range from Irish classics such as steak, beef stew and our all-day breakfast to dishes with an international flavour like our teriyaki stir-fry, linguine or our beef brisket sandwich. Then of course there’s our renowned fresh beef burgers, coming in a variety of styles we’ve gone for both unique and classic takes on the original meet feast but with one constant, they’re always made from fresh patties that are cooked to perfection.
We also have different specials every weekend so whether you like to stick to your tried and trusted or are feeling adventurous we make sure dining in Athlone is always something to look forward to.
